The app is completely free to download and install, and you do not need to create an account just to browse events. However, you will need to register with an email or phone number when it is time to purchase tickets. In-app ads are minimal, but there are service fees added to each ticket purchase, which is how the app makes its money.

Using GoFan is pretty straightforward. You open the app, search for your school or the event you want to attend, and then select your tickets. Once you buy them, the tickets show up right inside the app as a QR code. A tip I always give to friends is to add the ticket to your phone's wallet ahead of time, because the venue entrance can have bad cell reception, and you will not want to wait for the app to load.
