FIFA+ is a free streaming service from the world football governing body, launched back in April 2022. You can grab it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store without paying a cent. The app has already racked up over 10 million installs on Google Play alone, which is pretty impressive for a dedicated sports platform. You don't need to sign up just to browse, but setting up a free account lets you save your favorite teams and pick up where you left off on a match. There are no forced subscriptions, though you will run into some in-app ads between clips or before live streams start. Some premium content, like archive match replays, might require a small purchase, but the bulk of the live games and daily news clips are totally free to watch.

Using the app is straightforward. Once you download it, you land on a main feed that shows upcoming live matches from various leagues and tournaments. You can tap any match card to jump straight into the stream or check the schedule tab to plan your week. A handy tip is to enable notifications for your national team or favorite club within the settings, so the app alerts you ten minutes before kickoff. The live streams load pretty fast on a decent Wi-Fi connection, but if you are on mobile data, you can lower the video quality in the playback settings to save bandwidth. I also like that you can cast the stream to a smart TV directly from the app without needing any extra hardware.

I have tried a few other sports apps like ESPN and DAZN, but I keep coming back to this FIFA+ app purely for the archive content. DAZN has a huge library of live matches, but it costs a monthly fee, and ESPN focuses heavily on American sports. With FIFA+, I get access to classic World Cup matches and exclusive tournament highlight shows that you just will not find anywhere else. The interface feels cleaner than some of the bigger competitors, and since it is made by FIFA itself, the coverage feels official and polished. If you just want to follow the major international tournaments without paying for a full subscription service, this app is a solid choice.

Features

  • 🔥 The biggest feature here is the exclusive access to the FIFA World Cup archive. While DAZN focuses on live boxing and soccer leagues, this app lets you rewatch full classic matches from every World Cup since 1966. No other streaming app offers that level of historical content.
  • 📱 The user interface is much less cluttered than something like LiveScore or ESPN. You get a simple grid of matches and a clear timeline of upcoming games. There are no pop-up ads slowing the app down, just a banner now and then.
  • 🌍 The app supports multiple languages and regional content. If you live outside Europe, you will still get local qualifying matches and league highlights. That is not something you get with many global sports apps, which often block content based on your location.

Pros

  • ✅ It is completely free to download and use. Unlike DAZN or Paramount+, there is no monthly subscription eating away at your wallet.
  • ✅ The live broadcast quality is stable even on slower networks. I have seen fewer buffering issues here compared to the ESPN app during big matches.
  • ✅ It covers both men's and women's tournaments equally. The app gives the same promotion to the Women's World Cup as it does to the men's, which is refreshing compared to other apps that treat women's football like a side note.

Cons

  • ❌ The selection of live leagues is limited. You will not find the English Premier League or La Liga here because FIFA doesn't own those rights. DAZN or ESPN cover way more active league games.
  • ❌ The push notifications can be inconsistent. Sometimes I get an alert for a match that already finished, while other times I miss the start altogether. It is less reliable than the LiveScore app for real-time updates.
  • ❌ There is no offline download option. If you want to watch a highlight replay on a plane, you cannot save it ahead of time. Most other streaming apps offer that perk.
