Pregnancy Tracker & Baby Diary, made by Willson Studio, is a free app you can grab straight from the Google Play Store. It's been around since early 2020, and the install count sits at over a million right now, which says a lot about how many folks depend on it. You don't need to register an account to start using the app, but there are optional in-app purchases if you want extra themes or to unlock the full baby milestone library. There are also ads sprinkled in, but they're not too pushy. I downloaded it when I found out I was expecting, and honestly, it's been my go-to ever since.

Using the app is pretty straightforward. When you fire it up, you enter your due date or the date of conception, and the app calculates your current week and day automatically. It shows you a neat little visual of the baby's size compared to a fruit or vegetable each week, which is a fun way to keep track. I usually check the daily tips first thing in the morning, then I log my weight, blood pressure, and any symptoms throughout the day. A handy trick I picked up is to set reminders for your prenatal vitamins and doctor appointments right from the home screen. The baby diary section lets you jot down notes, upload photos, and even record your belly bump progression week by week. Oh, and if you're feeling anxious about childbirth, the built-in contraction timer in the third trimester is a lifesaver.

Compared to other popular apps like Ovia Pregnancy or What to Expect, I stuck with Pregnancy Tracker & Baby Diary because it feels less cluttered. Ovia has a ton of community features, which is nice, but sometimes it overwhelmed me with notifications. What to Expect is more about articles and forums, but this app keeps things focused on the actual tracking and diary aspect. It's also lighter on your phone's storage, which mattered a lot to me since my device is older. Plus, the interface is just friendlier to look at—nothing too flashy or distracting. It's simple, reliable, and does exactly what I need without extra noise, which is why I've recommended it to a few of my pregnant friends already.

Features

  • 🩺 Weekly fetal size comparison that actually feels accurate. Unlike BabyCenter, which just shows generic images, this app gives you a detailed, 3D-style visual every single week, and it updates daily. It even tells you the baby's estimated length and weight, so I always know what's happening in there without needing to guess.
  • 📱 Offline mode is a huge plus. I flew a few times during my second trimester, and most similar apps like Pregnancy+ require an internet connection to load content. This one lets you access your diary, notes, and even the weekly tips offline. That made those long flights way less stressful, and I could log my feelings right after the seatbelt sign went off.
  • 🗓️ Customizable appointment tracker that syncs with your calendar. You can add your OB-GYN visits, ultrasounds, and even blood tests, and the app will send you reminders. My old app, Flo Pregnancy, didn't offer this level of integration, so I often forgot my appointments. With this one, I just set it once, and it takes care of the rest.

Pros

  • 💪 Super lightweight and fast. Even on my budget Android phone, the app loads in under two seconds, and it doesn't drain my battery at all. My previous app, Sprout, was a laggy mess after a few updates, but this one has never given me any trouble.
  • 🎨 Clean and intuitive design. Navigating through the sections feels natural, and the colors are calming. I tried a friend's phone with Pregnancy Tracker by Amila, and the layout felt chaotic in comparison. Here, everything from the home screen to the diary is neatly organized, so I never have to hunt for features.
  • 🤰 Great privacy controls. You can lock the app with a PIN or fingerprint, which a lot of other apps don't even offer. I appreciated that when I was at work and didn't want coworkers seeing my pregnancy notes, especially since some apps like MyPregnancy share data with third parties by default.

Cons

  • ⚠️ The ad placements are a bit random at times. Sure, the app is free to download, but sometimes an ad pops up right in the middle of logging a symptom, which interrupts my flow. I get that it's how the developer makes money, but it's definitely more intrusive than what you see in similar apps like Glow Baby.
  • ❌ The baby diary doesn't have enough video support. I wanted to record a short clip of my belly moving, but the app only lets you attach still photos or text notes. Other tools like Pregnancy+ let you embed video snippets, so I ended up having to store those separately on my phone.
  • 🔄 Syncing across devices has some hiccups. I use a tablet at home and a phone when I'm out, but the data doesn't always sync in real-time. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to update, which is annoying if you type something quickly and then switch devices. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's something the developer should work on.
