I have been using GPS Map Camera – Timestamp, which is basically a camera app that stamps location data, coordinates, and timestamps onto your photos. It hit the Google Play Store a while back and has racked up over ten million installs since its launch. You can download it for free, and there is no need to sign up or register an account to use it, which I really appreciate. However, there are in-app purchases available if you want to unlock some extra filters and remove those pesky advertisements that pop up every now and then.

When I want to use this app, I just open it up, point the camera at what I need to document, and the location tag appears automatically on the screen. You can tweak the format of the date and time, adjust the position of the text, or even change the map style right from the settings menu. A nice tip is to use the grid mode to check your alignment before snapping a shot, and if you are taking multiple photos in the same spot, you can lock the location so it doesn't refresh every time.

I decided to stick with GPS Map Camera instead of other similar apps like Timestamp Camera or Time Stamp because it feels a bit more polished and reliable when pulling up the exact GPS coordinates. Some of the other apps I tried would show the wrong street names or take forever to load the map, but this one gets it right most of the time. • ⚡ The GPS accuracy is generally very reliable, and I have noticed it locks onto my location much faster than other apps like GPS Timestamp Lite.
• 🎨 The user interface is clean and simple, so I do not get lost in menus. It is more straightforward than some of the other photo stamping tools I have tried.
• 📦 The install size is pretty small, so it does not eat up too much storage on my phone, which is a big plus for me.

Cons

• 📢 There are in-app ads that appear after every few photos, which can be annoying when I am trying to take a bunch of shots in a row. Other apps like Open Camera do not have any ads at all.
• 🔋 The app can drain your battery pretty fast when it is constantly searching for GPS signal, and I have not noticed this being as much of a problem in GPS Phone Tracker.
• ❌ Sometimes the map image does not load properly if my internet connection is weak, and then the photo ends up with a blank area where the map should be.
• 😐 The customer support within the app is not very responsive, and I have had trouble reaching anyone when I encountered a bug.
