ALDI Grocery Pickup & Delivery is an app designed to make shopping at ALDI much more convenient. It's basically a way to browse ALDI's weekly offerings, build a shopping list, and then either pick it up curbside or have it delivered to your door. The app first launched around 2019 and is available for free on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. On Google Play, it's been downloaded over a million times, which shows it's pretty popular. The app itself is free to download and install, and you don't need any subscription to use it. However, you do have to create an account and provide your address to get started. There's no in-app purchase for the app itself, but you obviously pay for your groceries when you place an order. There are also in-app ads sometimes, but they're mostly for ALDI's own products and special deals, which I actually find helpful.

Using the app is pretty straightforward. First, you need to set your location to see which ALDI stores are near you and offer the service. Then, you can browse through different categories like fresh produce, dairy, frozen foods, or the famous ALDI Finds aisle. You add items to your cart, choose a pickup or delivery time slot, and pay. A key tip is to place your order for pickup at least a few hours in advance, and for delivery, even earlier, because slots can fill up fast, especially on weekends. Another tip is to keep an eye on the "Back to Basics" section for staple items that are always a great deal.

I chose this app over others like Instacart or Walmart's app mainly because I'm a regular ALDI shopper and love their prices. The app is directly integrated with ALDI's inventory, so I find it more accurate than third-party services. It's simple and does exactly what I need without trying to sell me a bunch of other stuff. I guess if you don't shop at ALDI, this app isn't for you, but for me, it's perfect.

Features

  • 📦 The standout feature is the "ALDI Finds" section. Weekly, the app gets updated with all the new, limited-time deals on home goods, clothing, and specialty foods. It's like a digital treasure hunt. Other apps like Target's app have similar sections, but ALDI's finds are often more unique and at much lower prices.
  • 🛒 The shopping list function is super clean. It syncs perfectly with your pickup or delivery order. You can easily save a list for next time, which is a huge time-saver. Compared to apps like Kroger's, I find ALDI's list less cluttered and easier to navigate because it's focused just on groceries.
  • 🚗 The curbside pickup process is lightning fast. Once you arrive and check in via the app, they usually bring your order out in under 5 minutes. This is far more efficient than my experience with Walmart's pickup, where I sometimes had to wait 15-20 minutes even with a confirmed time slot.
  • 💲 The "My Offers" section is built right in. Unlike some competitor apps where coupons are hard to find or digital-only, ALDI's offers are automatically applied to your cart. You see the savings before you even check out, which is really satisfying.

Pros

  • 👍 Price transparency is a huge strength. You see the exact same price as in the store, no markups. With Instacart, you often pay a premium just for the service, but not with this app.
  • 👍 The app is incredibly lightweight. It doesn't drain your battery or take forever to load. It's a no-bloatware experience compared to the full-featured apps from stores like Safeway or Giant.
  • 👍 The customer service integration is seamless. If there's a missing item, the app automatically refunds it, and you get a notification immediately. It's much less stressful than dealing with a third-party delivery service.

Cons

  • 👎 The main weakness is the limited delivery radius. If you live even a bit far from an ALDI, the app might not let you order for delivery at all. Other apps like Amazon Fresh have much broader coverage areas.
  • 👎 The app is a bit slow to show real-time inventory. On busy days, an item you added might be out of stock when the shopper picks it, and you only find out at pickup. It's less responsive than the app at Publix, which updates stock more dynamically.
  • 👎 There's no option for a weekly recurring order setup. For staple items like milk or bread, I have to manually reorder every time. Apps like Walmart+ let you schedule a weekly subscription, which is more convenient for families.
  • 👎 The search function could be better. It's a bit finicky with brand names or specific product names. Sometimes I have to scroll through a category to find what I need, while apps like Kroger have a more robust search tool.
